• Description: 4-Hydroxyanisole is an aromatic compound that inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as colony-stimulating factor. It also has anti-inflammatory properties in animal models. 4-Hydroxyanisole is a reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger, and has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes with iron centers. The toxicity of 4-hydroxyanisole has been studied in animal models and found to be low. This molecule is used as a model system for studying the reaction mechanism of ROS scavengers.
