Description

2-Hexylthiophene is a synthetic organic compound that belongs to the class of fatty acids. It is a colorless liquid with an unpleasant odor, which can be used in low light applications as an alternative to traditional fluorescent lamps. 2-Hexylthiophene has been shown to adsorb gas molecules and changes its optical properties in response to changes in the concentration of these gases. This property makes it suitable for use as a gas sensor. The addition of hydroxyl functional groups on the 2-hexylthiophene molecule has been shown to increase its redox potential, making it more reactive and able to oxidize other substances.
