N-Hydroxy-2-methylpropanimidamide is a bioisosteric ester that is used as a linker in the synthesis of oxadiazoles. It has been shown to be an antagonist for the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2, which are involved in regulating neurotransmitter release. N-Hydroxy-2-methylpropanimidamide has also been found to have some anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. The oxadiazole group can be substituted with other groups such as carboxylates, amides, or amidoximes.
