Description

L-Homophenylalanine ethyl ester hydrochloride is a chiral compound that can be used as a chemical intermediate. It has been synthesized by the oxidative cyclization of acetone in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid, followed by solvolysis of the resulting ester. L-Homophenylalanine ethyl ester hydrochloride is soluble in a wide range of solvents and has an average molecular weight of 225. The compound is thermodynamically stable and optically active with a specific rotation value of +0.5 degrees. The hydrogen bonds formed between this molecule and water are weaker than those formed between other amino acids with water due to its high polarity.
