• Description: 4'-Hydroxy-3'-methylacetophenone is a chemical that has been shown to have antimycobacterial activity. This substance is an aldehyde with two hydroxyl groups and one methyl group. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in vitro by binding to κ-opioid receptors, which are proteins found on the outside of cells. 4'-Hydroxy-3'-methylacetophenone also inhibits mycobacteria through hydroxide solutions, chemical ionization, and vibrational spectroscopy.
