It has a high sensitivity and selectivity for detecting CO gas. The low energy of this molecule allows it to undergo rapid electron transfer reactions with CO gas molecules that are adsorbed on the surface of the molecule. 1HFPCu can be used as a matrix molecule in the synthesis of other compounds or as a single layer on a substrate. This compound has been shown to have optical properties and can be used as an acid environment indicator.
