Description

Hydrocotarnine hydrobromide (HC) is a water-soluble drug that has been used as an anti-inflammatory agent and for the treatment of cancer. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of some enzymes in the body, including those that are responsible for the breakdown of proteins and fats. In addition, HC inhibits the production of inflammatory substances such as prostaglandin, leukotrienes, and histamine.
Hydrocotarnine hydrobromide is a crystalline compound with a molecular weight of 247.3 g/mol. The drug is found in urine samples at concentrations between 0.5 mg/L and 1 mg/L. Hydrocotarnine hydrobromide is slowly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract into the bloodstream and then excreted into the urine in unchanged form.
