Description

Herbacetin is a natural compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity in skin cancer. It is synthesized by the glycosylation of protocatechuic acid and has been found to inhibit tumor growth in xenografts. Herbacetin inhibits the mitochondrial membrane potential and induces apoptosis in skin cancer cells. It also inhibits proliferation of human leukemia cells, as well as tumor cell lines from other types of cancers, including breast, prostate, colon, and pancreatic cancer. Herbacetin may be a promising anti-cancer drug candidate for many types of cancer due to its ability to induce apoptosis in all major types of cancers.
