Description

Hypophyllanthin is a naturally-occurring bioactive phytochemical found in the leaves of the plant Phyllanthus. It has been shown to exhibit antiviral activity by inhibiting viral replication, and to have anti-inflammatory properties. Hypophyllanthin has been studied for its ability to inhibit inflammation in bowel disease, and toxicity studies have shown that it does not cause any adverse side effects. Hypophyllanthin also inhibits Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathways, which may be related to its anti-inflammatory properties.
