It can react with sodium hypochlorite to form permettant, which is a reagent for the conversion of alcohols to alkyl chlorides. Hexafluoro-2,5-dihydrofuran reacts with oxirane to produce fluoride and hydrogen fluoride. This compound is also known as hexafluorodihydrofluorane or tetrafluoromethane.
