2-Hydroxy-5-(Trifluoromethoxy)benzoic acid (2HFMB) is a trifluoromethoxy compound that is metabolized by deamination to 2-hydroxy-5-(trifluoroacetyl)benzoic acid. It has affinity for human liver and has been shown to inhibit the activity of neurokinin-1 receptor, which is responsible for pain and inflammation. 2HFMB also has anti-inflammatory effects in humans by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. This drug may be used to treat a number of diseases such as gout, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. 2HFMB also has a role in the treatment of cancers such as leukemia or lymphoma.
