• Description: 4-(((2-Carboxyethyl)thio)carbonothioyl)thiopentanoic acid is a monomer that is used in the polymerization process. It has been shown to be an electron acceptor and undergoes a reaction rate that is enhanced by irradiation with electrons or UV light. The reaction is selective for the carbon atom at the thiopentanoic acid end of the molecule, which results in fragmentation of the molecule. This leads to a yellow color when irradiated with red light. When irradiated with blue light, the molecule will react more slowly and produce a red color.
