4-Isothiocyanato-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile is a steroidal compound that is used as a cytotoxic agent in cancer treatment. It has been shown to be effective against cancer cells in vivo and in vitro. 4-Isothiocyanato-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and interacts with DNA, RNA, and proteins. Impurities found in this drug are due to the use of dimethylformamide during synthesis. The synthesis of 4-isothiocyanato-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile can be done using different methods, such as the method developed by MDV3100.
