- 4-Cyano-3-(trifluoromethyl)iodobenzene
- 2-(Trifluoromethyl)-4-iodobenzonitrile
4-iodo-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile is a molecule that belongs to the group of phenols. It is an additive in some pesticides, rubber and plastic products, and pharmaceuticals. This compound has been shown to be cytotoxic against human cancer cells in vitro, but it does not cause cell death after a 24-hour exposure. 4-iodo-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile also acts as a competitive inhibitor of cyclic AMP phosphodiesterase (cAMP PD). This drug was shown to inhibit the growth of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cells in mice. It is believed that this effect is due to its ability to inhibit the activity of copper salt and hydantoin by transmetallation or stereochemical effects.
