4-Isopropylphenyl)hydrazine hydrochloride (4IPH) is a molecule that inhibits the synthesis of galacturonic acid, an essential precursor for bacterial cell wall biosynthesis. 4IPH binds to the enzyme UDP-galactose 4-epimerase, thereby inhibiting the production of galacturonic acid. This compound has shown to be effective in reducing inflammatory pain and treating Alzheimer's disease by inhibiting the formation of amyloid beta plaques. The effectiveness of 4IPH is due to its ability to inhibit oxidative enzymes such as oxidases and peroxidases.
