Description

Isoconazole is a synthetic antifungal drug that inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, which is an important component of the fungal cell membrane. Isoconazole has been shown to be effective against Candida glabrata and other wild-type strains resistant to fluconazole. It also has antibacterial properties and can be used for treatment of infections caused by bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Isoconazole can be used in the laboratory for preparation of samples for microbiological analysis. It is stable under a wide range of conditions and does not interfere with the growth of microorganisms.
