Description

1-Iodopropane is a chemical with the molecular formula C3H6I and is a colorless, volatile liquid. It is used as a contrast agent in medical imaging. 1-Iodopropane has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and solid tumours. The mechanism of action remains unclear but it may be due to its ability to bind to receptors on cells that are responsible for regulating cellular growth and proliferation. 1-Iodopropane also inhibits enzyme activities by competitive inhibition, which prevents the conversion of proline into glutamate, leading to the inhibition of protein synthesis. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties that may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
