2-(3-Indolylmethyl)-L-tryptophan is a drug that belongs to the class of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RPHPLC) solvents. It is used for the separation of proteins, peptides, amino acids, and other compounds from biological fluids. 2-(3-Indolylmethyl)-L-tryptophan has been shown to be useful in the identification of eosinophilic fasciitis and coeluting impurities in pharmaceutical products. In an outbreak of Scleroderma, 2-(3-indolylmethyl)-L-tryptophan was found to be a reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography solvent that has been reported to cause pulmonary fibrosis.
