Isonitrosoacetone is a compound that has been synthesized from methyl ethyl pyridinium chloride and hydrogen chloride. This compound is a coordination geometry molecule with a pyridine ring in the center, which contains two nitro groups. Isonitrosoacetone has been shown to be effective in cleaning detergent compositions, as well as being an animal-safe chemical. Isonitrosoacetone also reacts with β-unsaturated ketones to form stilbene derivatives.
