This compound also has methyl alcohol functional groups, which have mass spectral peaks at m/z 80 and m/z 170. 2-Iodofluorene's nmr spectra show a singlet peak at δ 7.5 ppm, which corresponds to the hydroxyl group on the benzene ring.
