Description

3-Iodo-2-propynyl-N-butylcarbamate is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the class of glycol ethers. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of cortisol synthesis, with the ability to reduce serum cortisol concentrations by over 50%. 3-Iodo-2-propynyl-N-butylcarbamate has been shown to have carcinogenic potential in toxicity studies. In a study on rats, there was an increased incidence of benign and malignant neoplasms in female rats treated with 3-Iodo-2-propynyl-N-butylcarbamate. The compound also showed some degree of mutagenicity and genotoxicity in a number of tests. There are no data available on its chronic or reproductive toxicity.
