Description

2-Isopropyl-5-methylanisole is a natural compound that has been shown to have potent antimicrobial activity in a model system. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the active site of bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. 2-Isopropyl-5-methylanisole has also been shown to be nontoxic in toxicity studies on various model organisms. 2-Isopropyl-5-methylanisole is absorbed through the skin when applied topically or taken orally, and can be used as an antibacterial agent for topical application or in foods.
