Description

Isolongifolone is a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound. It has potent antitumor activity, which may be due to its ability to induce cell death by enhancing the mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibiting DNA synthesis. Isolongifolone can also react with acidic compounds at the uv absorption region. This reaction leads to the formation of a pyrimidine derivative that is fluorescent in the visible range. Isolongifolone has been shown to be effective in treating cervical cancer cell lines and human liver cancer cells.
