Description

4-Isopropylpyridine is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in organic solvents. It has a melting point of 130°C and can be obtained by reacting aluminium with peroxide or chloride. 4-Isopropylpyridine has been shown to interact with diffraction. It reacts with liquid phase aluminium to form an unstable n-oxide that decomposes into the desired product. This reaction takes place at a rate that is dependent on the concentration of reactants and the reaction time, which is usually between 10 minutes and 30 minutes. The interaction between 4-isopropylpyridine and peroxide generates hydrogen peroxide and acetone as byproducts, while the interaction with chloride generates hydrochloric acid as a byproduct. 4-Isopropylpyridine also undergoes termination reactions in liquid phase to produce water, acetic acid, and ammonia.
