Description :
Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is used to relieve pain and reduce fever. It is a form of ibuprofen alcohol, which has the chemical name 2-(4-isobutylphenyl) propionic acid. Ibuprofen binds to cyclooxygenase enzymes in the body, inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis and thereby reducing inflammation. Ibuprofen also has antipyretic properties, which are due to its ability to reduce fever by inhibiting heat production in the body. It can be used as an analgesic or anesthetic for minor surgical procedures. Ibuprofen is classified as a weak acid that can cause dehydration if taken on an empty stomach. This drug should be taken with food or milk to avoid this side effect.
