Description :
1-Isopropylaminopropane diol is a chiral chemical that can be synthesized from the racemate of 1-aminopropane diol. The racemic form is composed of two enantiomers, which are mirror images of one another. One enantiomer has an R configuration and the other has an S configuration. Racemization occurs in this compound when the molecule shifts from one form to the other due to changes in temperature or pH. This process also occurs naturally, such as through bacterial action on proteins. When 1-isopropylaminopropane diol is hydrolyzed with a strong base, it forms a sulfonic acid that reacts with alcohols or phenols to produce sulfonic esters.
