DL-Isoborneol is a compound derived from the rhizoma gastrodiae that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cells in vitro. When DL-isoborneol was incubated with fluorescence probe, it showed a significant cytotoxicity. This cytotoxicity may be due to its ability to bind to DNA and interfere with DNA replication. DL-Isoborneol also has an effect on cellular energy metabolism, as well as affecting cellular physiology. It is not known whether DL-isoborneol affects complex enzymatic reactions, but it does affect reaction solutions and cellular physiology.
