4-(1H)-Indazole carboxylic acid methyl ester is an enzyme inhibitor that binds to the active site of α-amylase, which is an enzyme that hydrolyzes starch into maltose. 4-(1H)-Indazole carboxylic acid methyl ester has been shown to inhibit the activity of α-amylase by binding to the enzyme's active site and preventing it from catalyzing reactions.
