Description :
(1R,6S)-Trans-moxifloxacin is a synthetic compound that belongs to the class of fluoroquinolones. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to moxifloxacin hydrochloride, its active form. (1R,6S)-Trans-moxifloxacin has been shown to be effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Clostridium perfringens. The industrial preparation process involves phase liquid chromatography with silicon as the stationary phase and hydrochloric acid as the mobile phase. This process can be optimized by using various solvents for the extraction or demethylation steps. These solvents include dichloromethane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, diethylether and methanol.
