Description

Levocabastine is a drug that is used to treat allergic symptoms. It binds to specific receptors on the surface of eosinophils and inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators, such as leukotrienes, which are responsible for allergic reactions. Levocabastine has been shown to have beneficial effects in treating human serum-induced anaphylaxis in mice and in reducing nasal congestion caused by allergic rhinitis. This drug also reduces locomotor activity and may have other pharmacological effects, including blocking the binding of benzalkonium chloride to histamine H1 receptors and inhibiting the production of eosinophil cationic protein (ECP).
