Description :
L-threo-sphingosine (d18:1) is a fatty acid that belongs to the category of sphingolipids. It is synthesized by the enzyme sphingosine kinase, which converts phosphorylcholine into 1-phosphorylcholine and serine. L-threo-sphingosine (d18:1) is metabolized into glucosylceramide by the enzyme glucosylceramide synthase. L-threo-sphingosine (d18:1) has been shown to have anti-cancer properties in vitro and in vivo. The compound also exhibits potential as a drug target for cancer treatment, due to its ability to induce autophagy and cell death in mammalian cells.
