Description

Lobelanine hydrochloride is a heterocycle that is used in the industrial production of phenacyl. It is also used in the synthesis of various chiral compounds. Lobelanine hydrochloride is a labile compound, which can be thermodynamically equilibrated with diastereomeric mixtures of lobelanine and norlobelanine. The equilibrium constant for this reaction has been optimized to produce high yields of the desired product. This compound is chiral and has two possible configurations, which can be synthesized using either an enantioselective or diastereoselective method.
