Description

4-Methoxybenzoic acid is a phenolic compound, which is used in the production of bisphenol A. It can also be found as an intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds, such as protocatechuic acid and pachymic acid. 4-Methoxybenzoic acid can be found naturally in a variety of plants, including cranberries. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by disrupting their cell walls and inhibiting protein synthesis. 4-Methoxybenzoic acid has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
