2-Methoxyethoxymethyl chloride (MEEMCl) is an organochloride that is used in the synthesis of quinoline derivatives. It can be used to synthesize a number of biologically active compounds, such as 2-methoxyethoxymethyl quinoline (2MEQ). MEEMCl has been shown to inhibit chronic bronchitis and inflammatory diseases by inhibiting the enzyme amido amidohydrolase. It is also used in the synthesis of monoclonal antibodies for cancer research. MEEMCl can be activated by hydrochloric acid and then reacts with an amine to form an amido derivative. The amido derivative can then be reacted with a carboxylic acid under acidic conditions to produce an ester.
