Description

1-Methylindole-3-carboxaldehyde is a molecule with an amide bond and a methyl group. The amide bond is formed by the reaction between an amide and an acid chloride, while the methyl group is derived from a methylene. 1-Methylindole-3-carboxaldehyde has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in hepg2 cells. This compound can be used as a potential cancer drug because it inhibits the production of tumor cell lines through the inhibition of protein synthesis. It also has low energy vibrations that can be used for vibrational spectroscopy, fluorescence properties that make it useful for optical imaging, and active methylene groups that may be used for synthesizing other molecules.
