4-Methoxy-2-methylaniline is a solvent that can be used as a reaction medium for the synthesis of chlorinated compounds. This product also has fluorescence properties and is used in the determination of amines and methyl pentanoate. In addition, 4-Methoxy-2-methylaniline is used to catalyze reactions with chloride, hydrochloric acid, or hydroxide solution. This product has been shown to react with sodium hydroxide solution to form methoxy groups on the ring structure. Linear regression analysis has shown that this product reacts with amines in an acidic environment to form an intramolecular hydrogen bridge.
