• Description: Methyl 4,5-dimethoxy-3-hydroxybenzoate is a synthetic chemical that inhibits the enzyme tectorigenin reductase. Tectorigenin reductase is responsible for the production of tectorigenin, a phytoestrogen found in plants such as china. Methyl 4,5-dimethoxy-3-hydroxybenzoate was shown to inhibit the activity of platelets from human blood and has been studied for its pharmacological properties. The thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of methyl 4,5-dimethoxy-3-hydroxybenzoate have been determined using gas chromatography - mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. It exists as both an enantiomeric mixture and racemic mixture.
