4-Methoxyphenyl isothiocyanate (4MPITC) is a photophysical agent that can be used to study the reaction mechanism of cancer cells. It has been shown to induce necrotic cell death in MCF-7 cells. 4MPITC binds with amines and forms unsymmetrical hydrogen bonds, which inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA in the cell. 4MPITC also has antihypertensive activity and antimicrobial resistance properties, making it an attractive candidate for drug development.
