Methanol is a chemical compound that is used in analytical methods such as chromatography. It has antioxidative properties and can be used to study the biochemical composition of a biological sample. Methanol reacts with carbon disulphide to give trifluoroborane gas, which is used for fluorescence angiography, an imaging technique that allows the visualization of blood flow in a living organism. Methanol has an amide group and many fatty acids, including oleic acid, linoleic acid, stearic acid, palmitic acid and arachidonic acid.
