Description

4-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic Acid is a mesylate salt of 4-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid. It has been shown to have antiproliferative activity against chronic myeloid leukemia cells. This activity may be due to its ability to inhibit the tyrosine kinase activity of the bcr-abl protein, which is involved in the proliferation and survival of chronic myeloid leukemia cells. The antileukemic properties of 4-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic Acid are comparable to those of imatinib. In addition, this drug has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in macrophages.
