Description

Methyl p-toluenesulfonate is an oxidation catalyst that is used in the preparation of samples for structural analysis, such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). It may also be used to synthesize cationic polymers. Methyl p-toluenesulfonate has been shown to have antimicrobial properties against gram positive bacteria, which are caused by the hydroxyl group on the methyl group. This compound can also react with halides, such as chloride and bromide, and lc-ms/ms methods.
