Description

2-[(3-Methylbenzyl)oxy]benzaldehyde is a pharmaceutical that acts as a molecular probe to study glutamine transporter proteins. It has been shown to inhibit the uptake of l-glutamine by cells in vitro. 2-[(3-Methylbenzyl)oxy]benzaldehyde inhibits tumor growth and cancer cell proliferation by blocking cellular uptake of glutamine, which is an essential amino acid for rapid cell proliferation. This drug also blocks the transport of glutamine across the membrane into cells, which leads to tumor growth inhibition.
