Description

Methyl 3-piperidin-1-ylpropanoate is a synthetic organic compound with the chemical formula CH3CH2CH2CH2C(N)CCC(O)O. It is a colorless liquid with an odor reminiscent of peppermint. Methyl 3-piperidin-1-ylpropanoate has been shown to be an effective surface activator for the polymerization of acrylates in both acidic and basic conditions. This reactant has also been used as a photoelectron energy source in electron microscopy techniques, such as high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM). Methyl 3-piperidin-1-ylpropanoate has been used to synthesize amines through a programmed chemical reaction by reacting with ammonia and methylamine.
