Morpholin-4-ylacetonitrile (MOR) is a reactive substance that belongs to the group of active oxygen. It has been shown to inhibit the oxidation of low density lipoprotein by reactive oxygen species, and can inhibit lipid peroxidation in vitro. MOR has an inhibitory effect on the reaction between hydrogen peroxide and chloride ions, which leads to the formation of chloramines. This compound reacts with formaldehyde to produce formylmorpholine, which reacts with acetonitrile to produce 4-chloro-N-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-N-methylmorpholine. The impurities in MOR may be due to its reaction with water or CO2 during evaporation or storage.
