5-Morpholin-4-ylthiophene-2-carbaldehyde (MT) is a novel anticancer agent that has been shown to have potent cytotoxicity against cancer cells. It interacts with the cancer cell membrane, which results in the disruption of the membrane and leads to the release of cytochrome C from the mitochondria into the cytosol. MT also inhibits tumor growth by inhibiting protein synthesis and inducing apoptosis. MT has been shown to be effective against breast adenocarcinoma in animal studies and human cancer cell lines in vitro. This drug has also been found to have a synergistic effect when used with tamoxifen for breast cancer treatment.
