Description

6-Methoxy-2,3,4,9-tetrahydro-1H-pyrido[3,4-b]indole is a drug that acts as an agonist at glutamate receptors. It binds to the glutamate receptor in the brain and activates it. This drug has been shown to cause locomotor activity in mice and rats. 6-Methoxy-2,3,4,9-tetrahydro-1H-pyrido[3,4-b]indole also inhibits lipid peroxidation and protects against oxidative damage in vitro. In addition to its neuroprotective effects, this drug has been shown to increase neurogenesis in vivo. 6-Methoxy-2,3,4,9-tetrahydro-1H pyrido[3,4 b]indole interacts with many cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP) including CYP2D6 and
