2-Methyl-2H-chromene-3-carbaldehyde is a chemical that has shown to have antimycobacterial activity. It interacts with salicylaldehyde and ethambutol, which are used for the treatment of tuberculosis. 2-Methyl-2H-chromene-3-carbaldehyde has been shown to be an inhibitor of mycobacteria by binding to the enzyme riboflavin synthase, preventing the synthesis of riboflavin, which is necessary for cell growth and survival. As a result, this chemical can be used as a potential tuberculosis treatment. 2MC3C is also a potent inhibitor of human kidney cells and can be used in studies on kidney function.
