5-Methylpyrimidin-2-amine is a dihedral molecule with a pyridine ring and a central nitrogen atom. It interacts with the anions of protozoan parasites, such as coccidiosis, which is mediated by hydrogen bonding. 5-Methylpyrimidin-2-amine has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme cgmp-dependent protein kinase, which is involved in cellular proliferation.
