Description :Methyl 5-oxopyrrolidine-3-carboxylate is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that reduces the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. It binds to COX-2 and prevents the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in the inflammatory process. Methyl 5-oxopyrrolidine-3-carboxylate has been shown to inhibit mouse hippocampal cells and human THP1 cells, which are important in inflammation. This drug also interacts with other proteins and can be localized to mitochondria membrane potentials. Methyl 5-oxopyrrolidine-3-carboxylate has the potential for use as an anti-inflammatory agent for cellular localization in mitochondria membrane potentials.
