4-Methyltetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-carboxylic acid is an inhibitor of the PI3Kδ enzyme. It is selective for PI3Kδ and inhibits its activity by binding to the ATP site. This compound is orally active and has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on leukemia cells in a mouse model. The discovery of this compound was made through a high throughput screen that identified inhibitors of leukocyte migration, which are implicated in autoimmune diseases and malignancies. 4-Methyltetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-carboxylic acid also has antiinflammatory effects, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
